A Los Angeles native who has made Chicago his home for the past 20 years, Marqueal is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. His indelible talent is a virtual emporium of musical genres encompassing R&B, Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Pop. Each magnetic performance embodies the foundation that music is built upon and delivers the energy to captivate audiences worldwide. You rarely find an artist that can not only cross musical styles but can do so effectively and convincingly.

Having been a member of Brian Culbertson’s band, the Jazz world has been blessed to hear the big tone and melodic sounds that flow from Marqueal’s saxophone. As a vocalist, his sultry voice is often compared to Marvin Gaye and Maxwell. His critically acclaimed debut CD, “CATALYST,” showcases his fluid versatility and laid-back grooves.

Marqueal is no stranger to the spotlight. He’s performed as a featured artist at Soul in the Horn Series at Subrosa (NYC), Capital Jazz Supercruise, Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival (CA), Napa Valley Jazz Getaway (CA), as well as headlining at Baker’s Keyboard Lounge (Detroit), The Promontory (Chicago), Suite Food Lounge (Atlanta), and Idlewild Music Festival (MI). On stage, Marqueal mesmerizes the audience with passionate vocals and enduring beats that have them swaying to the rhythms and dancing on their feet.

In addition to leading his band, Marqueal has shared the stage with some of the greats in music, such as Patti Austin, Avant, Peabo Bryson, Jonathan Butler, Will Downing, George Duke, Candy Dulfer, Floetry, Aretha Franklin, Larry Graham, Buddy Guy, Lalah Hathaway, Al Jarreau, Joe, KRS-One, Kenny Lattimore, Maysa, Chrisette Michele, Eric Roberson, David Sanborn, Jill Scott, and Kirk Whalum. Marqueal also excels behind the scenes as a gifted songwriter and producer. This multi-faceted artist didn’t choose music, music chose him.
